I have created 4 sims so far for Rutgers University's Continuing Education department. More sims are planned.

RUCE 1 (Orientation): Go There! (SLURL Link)

This sim is a full Second Life Orientation Course, with a custom-built progress tracking HUD system.

New residents arrive in a small building with welcome signs on all sides, that give basic movement information and an introduction to the course.

Just outside the entry point, there is a sign that dispenses a custom-made progress tracking HUD, and a notecard instructing the student to try their movement skills in a simple maze.

In the maze, they have to walk over 4 numbered circles, in numerical order.

A path leads to the bottom of the slope, and a lesson in camera controls. Then they walk along the river to the next lesson.

The next lesson is on dealing with inventory, opening boxes, and changing clothes. Four outfits of custom-made leisure clothes are available here, as well as two of the Linden default outfits.

Crossing a bridge, the next lesson is on altering the avatar's appearance.

Next is a lesson on communicating via open chat, IM and Voice. The school mascot, known as the "Scarlet Knight", greets the avatar by name when spoken to in open chat.

After a lesson on using pose balls to sit, and on how to sit on things without using pose balls, the avatar gets to visit a detailed three-bedroom house, where they practice maneuvering skills in close quarters, and learn about ownng land, property rights, and pricacy (or the lack thereof) in Second Life.

This is followed by lessons in basic building skills, with reference Landmarks to training sites in SL. Then a lasson in basic scripting, again with training location landmarks. And finally a lesson in using teleporters and in flying. When the HUD has recorded successful completion of all tasks in the course, they are presented with a small gift box.

At the end of the course, the newly trained avatar finds themselves at a popular Rutgers social area, the "Grease Trucks", where they can relax and get a sandwich from one of these commissary trucks, or can sit and chat with fellow students and staff members.

RUCE 2 (Old Queens Campus) : Go there! (SLURL Link)

Located across the street from the Grease Trucks, this sim is a detailed re-creation of their "Old Queens" campus, which is in New Brunswick, NJ. I worked about 9 months, at an average of 15 hours a week, to build this project. Just over 10,000 prims (virtual building blocks in various shapes), and countless custom-made textures were used to create it. This sim includes replicas of 5 buildings on the national Register of Historic Places.

RUCE 3 (Sandbox and Competition Field): Go There! (SLURL Link)

A full-sized yet low-prim replica of their football field, which acts as a sandbox and competition area.

RUCE 4 (Student Center and Classrooms): Go There! (SLURL Link)

A detailed replica of the Rutgers Student Center, as well as classroom space and "dorm buildings" that students can use for setting their home points to.
